How to Make Wawa Chicken Noodle Soup at Home

Step 1: Prepare Chicken Broth

Wawa Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe

Have 1 lb of fresh skin-on and boneless chicken pieces. The best option is to use chicken pieces from the breast part. Remove the extra fat from the chicken.

Now place the chicken pieces in a large cooking pot. Wawa chicken noodle soup can be cooked in one pot. So here, choosing the size of the pot is important.

Add chopped celery stick pieces, 1 cup of chopped onion, ½ cup diced carrot, 1 tablespoon minced garlic cloves, 2 or 3 bay leaves, and 2 teaspoons dried thyme into the pot. If the pot is medium-sized, fill the pot with cool water. Simmer the whole mixture for at least 1 hour. The water will turn brown. So, your chicken broth is ready.

Step 2: Saute Chicken Pieces and Vegetables

Separate the broth water from the chicken and vegetables using a strainer. Now you need to spice up the chicken and vegetables. In a mixing bowl, combine ½ teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon ground black pepper, and 1 teaspoon salt with the chicken and vegetables. Mix the chicken pieces with a small amount of cornstarch.

Then take a frying pan and pour ¾ tablespoon of olive oil. Heat it at medium flame. After the oil becomes hot, move the spiced-up chicken and vegetables to the frying pan. Saute them at a low flame for a couple of minutes.

They will turn golden brown when they are ready. Tear the chicken pieces into small pieces. Store them for later use.

Step 3: Cook the Chicken Soup

Pour 2 cups of cool water into a cooking pot. Add 1 tablespoon of corn flour to it. Mix very well, and then set the pot on the stove. Heat the water for a few minutes over a high flame. When it is boiling, lower the flame. Stir with a spatula.

Pour the chicken broth gradually. Stir the mixture continuously while adding chicken broth. Now add the stored chicken pieces and vegetables to it. Then add 2 teaspoons of dried thyme, ½ tablespoon of lemon grass, ½ tablespoon of chopped parsley leaves, 1 tablespoon of fresh chopped dill, and a pinch of salt to it.

Mix the ingredients very well.

Step 4: Add Buttermilk and Noodles to the Soup

Now it is time to add two core ingredients. Please note that if the noodles take more than 3 minutes to boil, you should pre-boil the noodles separately. Otherwise, add the homemade Mrs. Miller’s egg noodles to the half-prepared chicken soup.

Add 1 cup of buttermilk to the soup gradually. Don’t add too much at a time. Stir continuously. After adding all the buttermilk, boil the Wawa chicken noodle soup for 3 minutes.

Step 5: Prepare the Soup for Serving

Cooking Tips For Wawa Chicken Noodle Soup

Wawa Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe

The copycat recipe Wawa Chicken noodle soup has some essential tips for you. Considering these tips will make the soup more authentic. Here we go:

  1. It is better to saute the bone-in chicken pieces first. Then after cooking, remove the bones from them.
  2. On many websites, you may see they haven’t used cornflour. To get the authentic flavor, it is advised to use cornflour. It makes the soup thick enough.
  3. Using chicken broth is also a choice. But I recommend using it. You can also use vegetable stock.
  4. While stirring the soup, use a hand beater. But after adding herbs and spices, use a ladle.
  5. First, mix the cornflour with cold water. Don’t add cornflour directly to the hot water. Otherwise, it will be difficult to remove lumps of cornflour.
