  1. 1 pound Skinless Boneless Chicken Breast
  2. 4 Cups Olive Oil
  3. 1 ½ Cups All-Purpose Flour
  4. 1 tablespoon Baking Soda
  5. 1 tablespoon Corn starch 
  6. 2 large Eggs
  7. ½ cup Unsalted Butter
  8. 1 teaspoon Salt
  9. 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  10. 1 Teaspoon White Pepper 
  11. 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  12. 2 Teaspoons Garlic Paste
  13. 1 Cup Panko Breadcrumbs
  14. 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  15. 1 Tablespoon Vinegar


Step 1: Prepare Chicken Breast Strips

Separate the breast side meat from a whole chicken. Wash and drain away the water from the chicken breast meet. You can collect chicken meat from other sides of the chicken. Step 2: Tenderize Breast Strips

To turn the chicken strips into tenders, we need to tenderize the chicken. In this recipe, I have used baking powder. You can use Soy sauce with cornstarch for velveting or tenderizing the chicken. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and mix with chicken well. 

Leave the chicken breast strips to rest for 20 minutes to 30 minutes. Then pour water on the chicken. Wash away the baking soda. Pat dry the chicken with a cooking towel. 

Step 3: Marinade the Chicken Tenders

In this part of the recipe, you need to use herbs, sauce, and spices to make perfect marination. Add 1 teaspoon Salt, 1 teaspoon Black Pepper, 1 Teaspoon White Pepper, 2 Teaspoons Italian Seasoning, 2 Teaspoons Garlic Paste, 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce, and 1 Tablespoon Vinegar. 

Use your hand to mix the marinating ingredients with the chicken strips. After marinating the fresh meat, keep it covered. Let it rest for 1 hour.

Step 4: Prepare the Coating Mixture for Frying

Take three mixing bowls. In one bowl, beat 2 large eggs. In the second bowl, Add 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour. Then add 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon black pepper, and white pepper. Beat the flour mixture very well. You can use either a hand mixer or a stand electric mixer.

In another bowl, take 2 cups of Panko fresh breadcrumbs. It will be used to break the strips.

Step 5: Dip the Chicken Breast Strips into the Coatings

First, take one chicken breast strip and dip it into the beaten egg. Second, coat the Chicken with flour mixture. Then put the chicken tender in breadcrumbs. Finely coat the chicken tenders with Panko breadcrumbs. Do the same thing for the other chicken breast strips. Place them on a rack.  

Step 6: Bake or Air Fry the Chicken Strips

I have considered baking in this recipe. There are several ways to fry chicken breast strips. You can fry them using an air fryer. Both ways are healthy.

First, melt some unsalted butter on the baking tray. Place the coated chicken breast strips on the tray. Now spray or brush the required amount of olive oil on the chicken strips. 

Preheat the oven to 420 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the tray into the oven. Bake the chicken for 20 to 30 minutes and flip the strips 2 to 3 times. Thus, the chicken strips will be evenly baked. Finally, check if the chicken has turned into a crispy look. Remove the tray from the oven.

Chicken breast strips can be cooked in different ways. But some secret tips may work for all kinds of recipes. Some of my secret tips are-

  • Brine and tenderize with different types of spices and try to create an acidic medium. As chicken is tenderized best in an acidic medium. In Southern New Orleans Fired Chicken recipe, I have used buttermilk. It is a great brining ingredient.
  • Use Panko Breadcrumbs for your crispy coating. Besides, you can use crushed cornflakes and crushed nuts.
  • Don’t overcook the chicken strips. Also, let it rest for a while before marinating and cutting. 
  • Drizzle the fried chicken breast strips with lemon juice and blaze it with hot chili sauce. 
  • Serve it with Rice or Pasta and garnish with herbs and spices.

The main achievement of frying chicken breast strips comes when you get the perfect crispy and breading texture. The duration of frying chicken depends on the medium you are using. By using this recipe, you can air fry, deep fry, or oven-bake the long Chicken breast tenders. 

For homemade deep frying, pour a good amount of oil. Heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. I always recommend using Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Then cook the chicken tenders for 10 to 15 minutes. So, for deep frying, you overall need 15 minutes. Try to cook the chicken strips in batches.

For air frying, you need more time, but it is a healthy way. You need to heat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then cook the chicken in one layer for 15 to 20 minutes. Check the ultimate crispiness of the chicken.

In this recipe, you may find that I have used baking soda for tenderizing the chicken. For bringing methods, soak the chicken in a saltwater solution for at least 30 minutes to break down the fiber and tenderize it. Velveting is a little bit different.
