- ½ Cup All-purpose Flour
- ½ Cup Curry Powder (Tikka Masala Paste)
- 1 Tablespoon Garlic-Ginger Powder
- ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 6 to 7 Whole Cloves
- 1 Teaspoon Cumin Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
- ½ Teaspoon Ground Coriander
- 1 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
- 1/2 Cup Finely Chopped Onion
- 1 Tablespoon Chopped Garlic
- 2 Whole Tomatoes, Diced
- ½ Cup Vegetable Oil or Mustard Oil
- 1 Cup Greek Yogurt
- 1 Cup Beef Stock
- 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala
- ½ Cup Chopped Cilantro Leaves
- 1 Cup Coconut Milk
- 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 1 Teaspoon Fennel Seeds
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
Instructions
Step 1: Wash, Dry, and Ground Diced Beef
Take 2 pounds of beef and dice it into medium pieces. Wash the beef with clean water. Remove all kinds of dark spots and fat from the beef. Try not to have more fat in beef than 5 percent. In a large strainer, keep the diced beef pieces. It will drain the water. Or you can pat dry the beef using a kitchen towel.
Now blend the diced beef to prepare ground beef. Don't blend them too much. Also, you don't need to add water while blending. Just make tiny pieces of beef.
Step 2: Mix Spices With Flour
Add 1/2 cup of curry powder (Tikka Masala paste) and 1 tablespoon of garlic-ginger powder to 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Use a hand beater to mix them properly.
Now add 1 teaspoon of cumin Powder, 1/2 teaspoon of ground coriander, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and 1 teaspoon of garam masala to the flour and spice mixture.
Combine all the ingredients. Set it aside. You can store it for the next time you cook ground beef tikka masala or other Masala recipes.
Step 3: Sear Ground Beef
In a large fry pan or iron skillet, pour 1 cup of vegetable oil or canola oil. Preheat the oil for a while. Place 1/2 cup of finely chopped onion and 1 tablespoon of chopped garlic into the oil. Saute them until they turn brown.
After sauteing the onion and garlic, add the ground beef and continuously stir until it turns brown. The flame should be medium.
Step 4: Cook Beef With a Spice Mix
In the same cooking pan, add 1 cup of beef stock and the flour and spice mixture. Stir the ground beef with the masala (spices) properly so that every part of the ground beef is mixed up with the masala.
Now add 1 cup of pure coconut milk and stir again for the best results. Then add 1 cup of Greek yogurt, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder. 6 to 7 whole cloves, 1/2 teaspoon of ground coriander, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and a pinch of salt.
Finally, place the diced tomatoes in the pan. Cover the pan or skillet and simmer for half an hour.
Step 5: Boil and Cook Ground Beef With Tomato Paste
After boiling the beef for half an hour, remove the cover from the skillet. Using thongs, remove the peels from the tomatoes. Stir the tomatoes using a spatula and make a paste of them. Add more beef stock if needed. Then add 1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice, 1 Teaspoon of Fennel Seeds, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper.
Again, simmer and boil the beef until all the water is dried up and it turns into creaminess ground tikka masala beef.
Step 6: Finish Cooking Beef Tikka Masala
After completing the cooking, decorate it with some fennel seeds and chopped cilantro leaves. Enjoy this Indian delicacy dish with basmati rice or naan.
Is There a Vegetarian Version Of This Dish Available?
